It's a Kind of Magic by Shane Wilder

Being friends with a magician has it's perks, including learning ways to get a free drink. It also leads to some amazing photos.

My friend, Brian Brushwood has been a punk rock magician and podcaster for years.  He literally wrote the book on fire eating.  One of his biggest endeavors has been Scam School, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year.

Imagine an online show where you learn scams, puzzles and magic tricks to help you score drinks at the bar.  The show was also picked up for a pilot on the Science Channel.  So, in honor of the television show and the 10th anniversary of Scam School, I thought I would share some of my favorite behind the scenes photos from some of the best bars in Austin (Including The Handlebar, The Rusty Mule, and The Nomad).

No Flashers. by Shane Wilder

Sometimes I can't always use a flash.  If I'm inside a bar for a party and it isn't a private event, then I usually can not use a flash.  I have ways of compinsating by raising my ISO or using what light is available.  I wanted to show a few photos from two evens where this was the case.

They all have some amount of grain in them because of the lack of flash, but this made the photos in my opinion.  After all, grain did not become an ugly word until the digital age.
