I have worked for three different TV stations, but the one that I have the most photos from would have to be CBS7 in Odessa, TX. It was a great station and a wonderful stepping stone to get me to Austin.
I will probably do a few of these photo stories about them over time, but this one will probably be the biggest, as it is a standard behind the scenes.
The CBS7 Logo. The newsroom doubled as a backdrop for the studio set. This meant that everyone had to be on their best behavior during the newscasts. We were also located in a mall with a huge window where people could watch us.
nothing beats an artistic shot of something mundain. Then again, I may be the only person who thinks that a Ross director's board is boring.
I know this is a lot of photos. I could go into every single one, but in all honesty, these are all just shots of the news team working.
It wasn't all just hard work. Sometimes it was very relaxed.
We were lucky to have children come through regularly. All but the final photo were taken of a group of elementary students who were learning about weather. Nothing beats learning from an actual meteorologist. The final photo was from a small high school group that was learning about TV news. I was happy to catch one of them giving the teleprompter a go.
I am ending with this photo of a news photog who was filming me for a segment on the CBS7 lifestyles program, Studio7. This was so fun.
I plan on showing off another, smaller, set of these next time with some portraits.
Cheers.
